The NW-S636FK is a speaker-equipped variant of the sixth-generation S Series base model. It added external audio output to the Omakase Channel and unified design. The player offers 4 GB storage for MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files along with the 240x320 LCD, FM radio with recording, speaker support, video and photo playback, Clear Audio Technology, and 40-hour lithium-ion battery life.

This player extended a stable Walkman line into a compact accessory ecosystem once the core player no longer needed conceptual reinvention. The speaker package simply made it more casual, more portable, and a little more all-in-one without trying to redefine the S line.
