The NW-A828 is the base model in the fourth-generation A Series Network Walkman family. It succeeded the A800 generation while borrowing heavily from the A910 feature set but without OneSeg television. It offers 8 GB of storage supporting ATRAC, MP3, WMA, and AAC files along with an LCD that delivers improved color reproduction, Bluetooth, noise cancellation, video and photo playback, Clear Audio Technology, and 36-hour lithium-ion battery life.

By this point the A Series had finally settled into a clear premium flash Walkman identity. Earlier models had spent years negotiating whether they inherited the HDD branch, acted as miniature media flagships, or simply replaced higher-end flash players. The confusion had mostly cleared. The A828 delivers a polished late-2000s Sony portable with a capable screen, video support, Bluetooth, and cleaner overall package that made the line feel contemporary and far less transitional.
