In October 2026, Sony announced successors to both its WM1 pair and the ZX707. The NW-WM1ZM3 and NW-WM1AM3 follow the NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2, while the NW-ZX900 succeeds the NW-ZX707. Across all three, oxygen-free copper now forms the rear chassis. The gold flagship remains distinct in using copper for its main chassis as well. The processing changes are shared across the range. Sony adds look-ahead noise shaping to S-Master HX and extends the DSD Remastering Engine to streamed music as well as downloaded files. The differences between the players lie in the construction and components around that shared processing, alongside their screens and storage.
NW-WM1ZM3
The NW-WM1ZM3 retains the flagship’s gold-plated, oxygen-free copper main chassis and adds a copper rear chassis. Its power supply moves from one large polymer capacitor to two, while KIMBER KABLE internal wiring remains part of the design. It has 256 GB of storage and a 5.5-inch display.
NW-WM1AM3
The NW-WM1AM3 pairs an aluminum main chassis with a gold-plated, oxygen-free copper rear chassis. It shares the ZM3’s revised dual-capacitor arrangement and 5.5-inch display, with 128 GB of storage. The distinction between the WM1 models remains a matter of construction as well as capacity.
NW-ZX900
The NW-ZX900 uses a low-noise regulator and crystal oscillators shared with the WM1 models. Its aluminum main chassis is paired with a gold-plated, oxygen-free copper rear chassis, while its 5-inch display is smaller than those of the new WM1 pair. Internal storage is 64 GB.
Sony announced the range in the US on October 15, 2026, and in Japan on October 16. As of October 16, its Japanese launch is scheduled for November 27, 2026.
