NW-A805

The NW-A805 was the base model in the second-generation A Series Network Walkman family. It moved the premium A line fully into flash memory after the earlier hard-drive A1000 generation. It provided 2 GB of storage for ATRAC, MP3, WMA, and AAC files, with a 240x320 LCD for video and photo playback alongside DSEE and Clear Audio Technology. WM-PORT connectivity and a 30-hour lithium-ion battery completed the platform.

This generation made the A Series a multimedia flash player while keeping its higher-end position. The change affected daily use directly: the player was built for music, video, and photos in one compact device, with broader codec support and a display suited to more than track text. It felt less like a flash music player with extras and more like Sony's first settled premium pocket media platform.
