NWZ-E438F

The NWZ-E438F is the top overseas E Series model in this generation. It uses a higher-resolution 240x320 LCD while keeping all multimedia and FM functions. The player offers 8 GB storage for MP3, AAC, and WMA files along with the improved LCD, FM radio, WM-PORT, video and photo playback, Clear Audio Technology, and 45-hour lithium-ion battery life.

This player was the fullest-capacity version of that same multimedia E family and the strongest expression of Sony briefly making the E Series feel more complete than "entry-level" usually implies. A 2-inch screen, video and photo playback, FM radio, and drag-and-drop simplicity gave it a much more rounded feel than many earlier E models had managed. It showed Sony giving the E line a short-lived moment of confidence before later generations stripped the branch back down again.
