The NW-A829 is the mid-capacity model in the fourth-generation A Series Network Walkman lineup. It features 16 GB of internal storage supporting ATRAC, MP3, WMA, and AAC files. The player includes the generation's Bluetooth and noise-cancellation additions along with an LCD offering enhanced color reproduction, video and photo functions, Clear Audio Technology, and 36-hour lithium-ion battery life.

The A829 struck the most naturally balanced note in the A82x generation. By then the A Series had stopped feeling restless and had become one of Sony's cleanest late-classic Walkman branches: premium enough to feel distinct yet still compact and focused. It showed Sony finally delivering a premium flash Walkman that felt fully resolved for its time, stylish, media-capable, wireless-friendly, and straightforward without needing a long explanation.
