The NW-S703F is a premium noise-cancelling variant in the fourth-generation S Series Network Walkman lineup. It built on the Clear Audio Technology introduction with added isolation for active listening. The player offers 1 GB storage for ATRAC3plus, MP3, WMA, and AAC files. A color OLED display, voice/FM recording (via cable), noise cancellation, WM-PORT, and 45-hour lithium-ion battery were included.
The beginning of the noise-cancelling branch within the same S Series transition. Instead of feeling like a sporty accessory, this model was Sony trying to build a compact personal listening device with a more premium edge. Noise cancellation changes what kind of use Sony is prioritizing.
