The NW-A808 was the highest-capacity model in the second-generation A Series Network Walkman range. It completed that family's move into flash memory with the first 8 GB version, supporting ATRAC, MP3, WMA, and AAC files. A 240x320 LCD handled video and photo playback, while DSEE, Clear Audio Technology, WM-PORT, and a 30-hour lithium-ion battery carried over from the rest of the line.
As the top model, it made the second-generation A Series feel like a complete flagship flash platform rather than a simple music player. The larger capacity suited the broader media role: video, photos, and a larger music library could live in the same small device. This is where the early multimedia A concept felt most fully formed.
