The NWZ-S618F is the highest-capacity overseas model in the fifth-generation S Series with noise cancellation. It uses the full card-style redesign. Offering 8 GB storage for MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files, it includes a 240x320 TFT display, FM radio, WM-PORT, video and photo playback, Clear Audio, DSEE, noise cancellation, and 33-hour lithium-ion battery.
This top variant highlighted the overseas S Series expansion into larger storage and richer features during the card-body era. It was the top-capacity version of the same platform and the fullest version of that particular S formula before the line shifted again. This is the S Series in a maintenance era, but in a good way. The identity was already there. Sony was no longer trying to prove anything with it.
