NWZ-A818

The NWZ-A818 represented the highest-capacity model in the overseas NWZ A Series successor family. It completed the move away from ATRAC and proprietary transfer methods. Featuring 8 GB of storage, it handled MP3, WMA, and AAC files with video and photo playback. The lithium-ion battery lasted up to 36 hours.

As the top end of this generation, it underscored the overseas A line's full embrace of flash memory, drag-and-drop ease, and wider file compatibility. It is the top-capacity version of that same platform and the fullest version of Sony's first properly settled flash A Series. By this point the line had enough screen, enough polish, enough storage, and enough multimedia ambition to feel complete in a way some of the earlier premium Walkman never quite did.
