The NW-S715F is a noise-cancelling variant in the fifth-generation S Series with the new card-style design. It emphasized refined listening alongside the series' expanded capabilities. It provides 2 GB storage for MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files. A 240x320 LCD display, FM radio, noise cancellation, video and photo playback, Clear Audio Technology, and 33-hour lithium-ion battery completed the package.

This Walkman model highlighted the fifth-generation transition to card-form versatility with added audio isolation. It was the beginning of the more elevated noise-cancelling S family in regional form. By this point, the S Series had already stabilized. Noise cancellation and better accessory behavior gave the player a more defined listening role and a stronger emotional identity.
