The NWZ-S739F is the flagship 16 GB noise-cancelling model in the overseas sixth-generation S Series. It capped the line with maximum capacity and the complete set of modern features. The player offers 16 GB of flash storage for MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files along with the 240x320 TFT display, FM radio with recording, noise cancellation, WM-PORT, video and photo playback, Clear Audio, DSEE, and 40-hour lithium-ion battery life.

This model was the fullest expression of that late-classic S Series confidence. By this stage the branch had become one of Sony's easiest Walkman lines to recommend: compact, polished, media-friendly, and clearly differentiated without needing to be dramatic about it. It was not a turning point so much as a culmination. Sony had already solved the role; this was just the strongest-capacity version of the answer.
