NWZ-S638F

The NWZ-S638F is the 8 GB overseas variant in the sixth-generation S Series. It retained the unified design language and Omakase Channel introduction. With 8 GB of flash storage it supports MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV playback along with the 240x320 TFT display, FM radio with recording, WM-PORT, video and photo feature, Clear Audio, DSEE, and 40-hour lithium-ion battery life.

This model was probably the most representative version of that generation in actual use. It carries the same broad significance as the S636F but landed right in the middle of the family where the balance made the most sense: compact, polished, feature-rich enough, but not trying too hard to be premium. Sony was no longer forcing a role onto the branch. It had already figured out what this line was supposed to do.
