NWZ-A816

The NWZ-A816 is the mid-capacity model in the overseas NWZ-branded A Series successor lineup. It followed the same transition to drag-and-drop and non-ATRAC formats. With 4 GB of internal storage, it supports MP3, WMA, and AAC playback plus video and photo viewing. A 36-hour lithium-ion battery powered the device.

This Walkman model continued the overseas shift toward mainstream compatibility while keeping the A Series' multimedia focus. It was the middle-capacity version of the same generation, and probably the one that best captures what the A Series had become in normal day-to-day form. Sony had finally arrived at a premium flash Walkman that felt finished instead of argumentative.
