The NW-S716F offers mid-capacity noise cancellation in the fifth-generation card-style S Series Network Walkman family. Featuring 4 GB of internal storage, it handled MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV playback. The 240x320 LCD, FM radio, noise cancellation, video/photo support, Clear Audio Technology, and 33-hour lithium-ion battery were standard.
This player sat within the generation that moved the S line into a more mainstream card-body design. It is the middle-capacity regional version of the same upward-leaning S family, and probably the most balanced version of that generation. It carries the same listening-first shift without leaning so far upward that it started stepping on the A line.
