The WM-F702 is the radio-equipped counterpart to the WM-702, combining the same slim metal body, auto-reverse, Dolby B, Extended Dynamic Bass Boost, EX Amorphous head, and logic control with a global three-band tuner covering FM, AM, and TV audio. It also retained the upgraded inline remote, now expanded to handle radio tuning and preset functions as well as transport operation. The result was a player that stayed physically refined while becoming much more adaptable in use.
This is a very successful late-1980s Sony type: take a well-resolved playback machine and extend it into radio without making it feel clumsy or overbuilt. The F702 worked because it preserved the compact premium feel of the base model while adding genuinely useful flexibility for everyday listening. It reads as one of the more complete mid-to-upper-tier Walkman of the year.
