WM-F707

10th Anniversary First Dock Charging
WM-F707

The WM-F707 is a premium radio recording Walkman that combined a global digital tuner, auto-reverse playback and recording, Dolby B noise reduction, Dynamic Bass Boost, logic control, and a built-in stereo microphone in a compact metal-bodied package. It also comes with a charging dock, giving the player a slightly more integrated desktop relationship than most ordinary portable cassette models. Despite the long feature list, the design still remained recognizably Walkman instead of drifting into mini-deck territory.

This is one of those late-era models where Sony was trying to gather almost everything a serious portable user might want into one coherent object. Radio, recording, charging, and compact daily portability were all being asked to coexist without making the player feel bloated or compromised. The F707 makes sense as a flagship not because it was flashy, but because it tried to leave very little unresolved.
