NWZ-S736F

The NWZ-S736F is a noise-cancelling overseas model in the sixth-generation S Series. It added isolation to the unified card-style design and Omakase Channel. It features 4 GB of storage for MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files along with the 240x320 TFT display, FM radio with recording, noise cancellation, WM-PORT, video and photo playback, Clear Audio, DSEE, and 40-hour lithium-ion battery life.

This player belonged to the next step in the same broader S-series maturity but with a slightly more elevated feel. Sony was not radically reinventing the line here so much as sharpening it: better polish, stronger presentation, and a little more confidence in the branch's identity. It showed the S Series being maintained with care instead of rescued or repurposed, which is usually a sign that a line has finally stabilized for real.
