The NW-A607 is part of the first-generation A Series flash family. It features 1GB built-in storage and supports ATRAC, MP3, and WMA playback on a black-and-white OLED display. A lithium-ion battery delivers up to 50 hours of use and includes an FM radio tuner. It derived from the NW-E500 generation and sat in the flash memory branch of the launch A Series lineup.
The middle-capacity version of the first flash A Series and probably a better reflection of what Sony wanted that branch to become. By this point the A line was clearly meant to feel more polished and more serious than the E Series. It helped establish a premium center within Sony's flash Walkman hierarchy with better presentation and a cleaner industrial identity.
