The NW-E107 is a 1GB Network Walkman part of the 4th generation E series. It features built-in flash memory and supports audio playback in ATRAC and MP3 formats. It has an LCD display and is configured for long-term operation with a single AA battery.
The NW-E107 marked a shift toward simpler, more accessible flash-based Walkman design as Sony moved away from tightly controlled ATRAC-only ecosystems and large hard-drive players. It reflected the company's transition toward compact MP3-compatible devices built for everyday use.
The design centered on a circular form, departing from the rectangular layouts used in earlier models. Measuring just over fifty-six millimeters across, the player used translucent plastics, a small LCD in the upper arc, and a ring-style control pad to create a compact and approachable interface.
The rounded shape improved handling and gave the device a distinct identity within the Network Walkman line. Internally, the E107 provided one gigabyte of storage and supported ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, and MP3 playback through SonicStage.
Battery life reached approximately seventy hours on a single AAA cell, reflecting Sony's focus on efficiency and extended listening. Design began to matter as much as function.
