The WM-FX443 is another digitally tuned FX-series radio Walkman that paired synthesized FM/AM tuning with Mega Bass and straightforward cassette playback in a compact plastic portable body. It appears to have focused a little more on tuning usability and interface refinement than the lower digital FX models, but still stayed within the ordinary late-1990s radio Walkman template instead of moving into luxury territory.

Here the details are compact, but the pattern is clear. Sony was refining interaction more than reinventing hardware. The FX443 is a radio Walkman from the point when usability itself had become one of the main areas left to improve.
