WM-FX16

The WM-FX16 is a mainstream radio Walkman that paired a manual FM/AM tuner with auto-reverse playback and an adjustable Mega Bass circuit in a compact two-AA body. It also includes anti-rolling support, manual tape selection, a cassette window, belt clip, and DX/Local switching for reception optimization, giving the machine a feature set that felt more complete than the entry-level FX models without becoming especially ambitious. It sat squarely in the practical middle of the radio line.

By the early 1990s, Sony's formula for a "good everyday radio Walkman" was becoming very clear: tuner, auto-reverse, bass enhancement, and just enough stability and usability improvement to feel complete. It was one of the products that holds the category together.
