WM-EX404

The WM-EX404 is a more complete midrange EX-series cassette player, combining auto-reverse playback, Mega Bass, Dolby B noise reduction, AVLS, manual tape selection, and full-logic controls in a basic plastic body powered by standard batteries. It stayed fairly no-nonsense in appearance, but the feature set was clearly more rounded than the stripped models below it. This model felt built for steady use instead of for display.

This model is a very typical late-1990s Sony cassette player in the best way. The EX404 does not depend on novelty or premium finish. It simply assembles the right features for someone who still wanted cassette to feel convenient, clean, and dependable in daily life.
