WM-AF64

The WM-AF64 is a more capable Sports-styled radio Walkman that combined AM/FM reception with auto-reverse playback, Dolby B noise reduction, Mega Bass, and support for metal tapes in a compact gray or black body depending on market. Some versions also includes limited FM preset functionality, giving the tuner side of the machine a little more usability than the simpler manual models. The controls remained straightforward, but the feature set was clearly a step up from the lower AF branch.

The AF64 sits in the stage where Sony was applying the Sports-adjacent identity to machines that were no longer simply stripped outdoor variants, but more rounded everyday portables. It was not an extreme sports player, but a capable moving-use Walkman built around convenience and stronger sound. Here the active branch was becoming more mature and less gimmick-driven.
