WM-150

10th Anniversary
WM-150

The WM-150 is a slim full-metal playback Walkman that emphasized finish and feel as much as function, combining auto-reverse, Dolby B noise reduction, Dynamic Bass Boost, and an EX Amorphous head in a relatively restrained chassis. Powered by a single AA battery, it avoided the more complicated rechargeable systems of Sony's slimmer premium machines while still delivering a notably solid and polished presence in the hand. A compact number were also produced as IBM-branded corporate gift editions instead of ordinary retail variants.

This model sits in a very Sony kind of middle ground: more refined than the casual plastic players, but not trying to be the technical showcase of the range. It is a player for people who wanted something handsome, dependable, and a little elevated without needing to buy into the full high-end miniaturization story. In that sense it reads less of a flagship and closer to a very confident everyday premium model.
