The NW-S615F is a base model in the fifth-generation S Series Network Walkman family. It moved the line from earlier stick-oriented forms into a broader card-style body closer to the A800 series. It offers 2 GB of storage supporting MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files. A 240x320 LCD display handled track information, while FM radio, noise cancellation, video and photo playback, Clear Audio Technology, and 33-hour lithium-ion battery were included.
This redesign broadened the S Series' mainstream appeal beyond pure sports use. It is a regionally branded counterpart to the same FM-equipped S generation, carrying the same broader role in the lineup instead of introducing a new one. The S Series had become a comfortable mid-tier family with a much cleaner sense of purpose than it had earlier in the decade.
