NW-E503

The NW-E503 was a Europe-only 256 MB model in the fifth-generation Walkman Stick E Series. It kept the perfume-bottle-inspired form, OLED display, ATRAC and MP3 playback, built-in flash storage, lithium-ion battery, and up to 50 hours of use, while adding FM radio within this family.

The FM feature made the Walkman Stick feel more useful without changing its compact design identity. It was still a small, stylized object, but it now had more everyday flexibility than the first version of the form.

This is where the E Series began to move beyond design novelty. Sony kept the distinctive object language while making the same small player more practical.
