The WM-FX141 is part of the most basic radio Walkman in Sony's 1998 FX line, combining an FM/AM tuner with Mega Bass inside a simple plastic body powered by two AA batteries. It kept controls minimal, omitted digital tuning and auto-reverse, and stayed very close to the lowest viable form of a combined radio-and-cassette portable. The body includes a carry clip and little else by way of distinction.
This machine suggests how broad the late FX family still was. Sony was more than making refined digitally tuned radios. It was still building very plain, affordable radio Walkman for listeners who wanted the category without the complexity.
