The WM-FS393 is a Sports-series radio Walkman built around FM/AM tuning, Mega Bass, AVLS, and a durable plastic body shaped for active use instead of for slimness or elegance. It kept the control layout direct and the machine physically robust, staying closer to the practical Sports branch than to the more electronically loaded premium radio models. The object was clearly built to move around with the user.
This Sports Walkman says less about technical ambition than about use-case clarity. The FS393 is Sony had fully internalized what the branch was supposed to do by then: survive movement, stay simple, sound energetic, and not get in the way.
