The WM-AF28 is a basic FM/AM radio cassette Walkman built around Sony's late-1980s low-cost standing-body formula, combining manual radio tuning with straightforward cassette playback in a compact plastic shell. It supports normal, chrome, and metal tapes through a manual selector and runs on two AA batteries, with a carry clip and direct mechanical controls reinforcing its simple everyday portability. There was no auto-reverse, Dolby, or equalizer circuitry to complicate the machine.
The AF28 captures how far Sony had normalized the radio Walkman by then. It was not a feature-rich tuner machine or a specialized branch, but an everyday two-in-one portable built to make both radio and tape accessible at the lower end of the market.
