The NWZ-E445 represented the largest-capacity option in Sony's 2009 E Series Network Walkman group. It extended the mid-range multimedia approach to users needing more room for files. With 16 GB flash storage supporting MP3, AAC, and WMA playback, it also handled video and photo files. The 240x320 TFT display managed track and media information. Lithium-ion battery life reached 45 hours for audio, using WM-PORT for transfers and including FM radio.
The E445 capped that generation and gave the E line its fullest version of the "simple but complete" formula before the next round of cleanup arrived. A bigger screen, video and photo support, FM, and a more polished interface made it feel richer than the earlier barebones E models without ever pretending to be an A Series substitute.
