NWZ-E444K

The NWZ-E444K added built-in speaker support to the 8 GB configuration of Sony's E Series Network Walkman. It maintained the series' emphasis on multimedia playback in a portable form. It carries 8 GB storage for MP3, AAC, and WMA files, plus video and photo functions. A 240x320 TFT display presented the content, backed by a lithium-ion battery rated for 45 hours of music. FM radio, speaker output, and WM-PORT rounded out its operation.

The speaker-equipped version of the E444 is less interesting as a technical step than as a packaging signal. Sony is comfortable enough with the E platform by now to let it branch into more casual-use retail variations without disturbing the core identity.
