D-245

The D-245 brought anti-skip into a more accessible part of the 1995 lineup by combining ESP buffering with the familiar 1-bit audio path and standard portable layout while keeping battery use practical and the body compact enough for daily carry. It is not trying to be a flagship, just a more forgiving version of the kind of player people were already used to carrying.

Skip protection had already started moving out of the premium tier and into the part of the range where it could become an everyday expectation. The D-245 belongs to that shift. Models like this are where the technology stopped feeling special and started feeling normal.
