A youth-oriented cassette player from Sony's Psyc lineup, the PSY02 uses a semi-transparent plastic shell and simple mechanical controls for everyday tape playback. It runs on two AA batteries and includes Mega Bass as the primary sound feature, with no radio or advanced noise reduction.
Sony created the Psyc series to re-engage younger buyers who saw traditional Walkman as outdated. The PSY02 kept costs and complexity low while offering bright colors and see-through styling, positioning it as a fun, disposable accessory instead of serious audio gear.
