TV Band Stereo Microphone
WM-F85

The WM-F85 is a high-end radio recording Walkman that combined auto-reverse playback, Dolby B noise reduction, line-input recording, and a three-band tuner covering FM, AM, and TV audio. It can also accept a stereo microphone for direct field recording, while its transport and manual tape-type selector support normal, chrome, and metal playback in a body compact enough for regular portable use. Despite the feature load, the design stays relatively straightforward and portable instead of drifting into professional-recorder territory.

This model makes the most sense once the Walkman has already split into multiple overlapping subcategories. The F85 brought together broadcast listening, direct recording, and ordinary cassette playback in a single player for users who wanted flexibility more than purity. It sits near the top of the radio branch, but still feels grounded in real use rather than spec-sheet excess.
