WM-F181

10th Anniversary
WM-F181

The WM-F181 built on the same basic compact radio Walkman idea as the WM-F180 but expanded it into a more travel-oriented machine through a global-band digital tuner covering FM, AM, and TV audio across worldwide frequencies. Auto-reverse, Dolby B, Dynamic Bass Boost, and the EX Amorphous head remained intact, while a multi-function search button made station access easier than on Sony's more basic tuner models. It kept the same general portability while widening its usefulness.

This is one of those models where the added capability tells you a lot about who Sony imagined carrying it. The F181 makes sense for travelers, international users, or anyone who wanted one compact machine that would remain useful outside a single domestic routine. It is not flashy, but it gives the Walkman a slightly broader horizon than the usual city-commute logic.
