WM-EX670

A slim EX-series cassette Walkman released in 1999, the model sat in the upper half of Sony's non-radio portable lineup and introduced a full-metal body that set it apart from the plastic majority. It retained the standard auto-reverse transport and Dolby B noise reduction while adding Mega Bass plus Groove and Sound Revitalizer circuits for layered bass and treble boost. The compact dimensions and single-AA operation kept weight low, and an Automatic Music Sensor allowed quick track location on tapes.

Sony positioned this unit as a refined daily driver for users who appreciated build quality over extras. In a market where most EX models stayed basic, the EX670 gave metal-body appeal at a modest price premium, aimed at listeners who carries their player constantly and wanted something that felt more substantial in the hand without venturing into the flagship price bracket.
