WM-EX606

The WM-EX606 is a mid-tier EX-series playback Walkman that focused on flexibility and interface refinement more than dramatic transport innovation. It uses an EX Amorphous head with auto-reverse, Dolby B, Extended Dynamic Bass Boost, Automatic Music Sensor, and blank skip, while the control layout introduced a more intuitive hold-switch arrangement than many earlier models. One of its more useful physical details was the dual-connector setup, combining Sony's remote port with a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack so conventional earphones could be uses directly without forcing the user into a fully proprietary setup.

This model shows Sony solving compact practical irritations instead of chasing a flagship headline. The EX606 makes sense as a machine for users who wanted a little more freedom in how they listened and what they plugged in, without needing to move all the way into the premium metal-and-special-mechanism tier. It is a very considered middle of the lineup.
