WM-EX502

The WM-EX502 is a more complete midrange EX-series playback Walkman that added Dolby B noise reduction and automatic music search to the now-familiar combination of auto-reverse, Mega Bass, anti-rolling support, and logic-controlled cassette handling. It uses a balanced two-AA body with visible cassette window and manual tape selection, keeping the player practical while giving it a slightly more sophisticated transport feel than the simpler EX models below it.

This was the point when the EX line started feeling less of a ladder of isolated products and more like refinements layered onto a stable cassette platform. The EX502 is not flashy, but it feels efficient and well-composed, which is often a better sign of maturity than novelty.
