The WM-EX356 is a midrange EX-series cassette Walkman built around a conventional standing plastic body with belt clip, manual tape selector, anti-rolling support, and a two-AA power setup. It combined auto-reverse playback with Dolby B noise reduction, AVLS, and adjustable Mega Bass in high and low settings, giving it a fuller everyday feature mix than the plainer EX machines below it. Nothing about the body was especially slim or luxurious, but the player was clearly meant to feel competent and complete.
This model makes sense once the EX line had fully settled into its late-cassette role. The EX356 was not trying to look fashionable or experimental. It reads more as a straight daily-use Walkman for people who still wanted the expected comforts-less hiss, more bass, no flipping tapes-without moving into the thinner or more remote-driven end of the range.
