A final evolution of Sony's Widdit series, the EK3 is a basic cassette Walkman with Mega Bass enhancement and a camouflage-patterned plastic body. It uses two AA batteries for around twenty-four hours of playback and kept the tape transport deliberately simple with mechanical controls and no radio.
Sony uses this model to close out the budget Widdit line with a fun visual twist. It targeted casual users who wanted an inexpensive player with a distinctive look, maintaining low-end cassette availability as the broader market moved toward digital formats.
