The WM-AF604 is a Sports radio Walkman built on the compact WM-150 auto-reverse mechanism and designed around straightforward active use instead of novelty or premium audio ambition. It combined FM/AM reception, manual tuning, a DX/local switch, and sport earphones in a compact black plastic body, keeping the machine relatively compact while still aligning it with Sony's late-1980s Sports identity. The emphasis was on dependable combined listening during movement.
With AF604, you can see how the Sports Walkman line no longer needed to rely on oversized or heavily stylized hardware to make sense. Sony could build an "active-use" machine that was still compact and everyday-practical. At this point the Sports branch was settling into mass-market adulthood.
