The NW-S785 is an eleventh-generation S Series Network Walkman offering 16 GB storage for MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files. A lithium-ion battery delivers up to 77 hours of playback with video and photo playback and Clear Phase processing.

The S785 is probably the most naturally balanced version of that generation. It gives the late S formula enough room to feel fully usable without changing the branch's deeper appeal, which is that it still behaves like a real dedicated Walkman at a time when most portable audio devices were becoming more diffuse and multifunctional. It is not trying to do everything. It is trying to preserve a certain kind of listening relationship that was already starting to disappear.
