The NW-E407 is the 1GB flagship of the fifth-generation Walkman Stick E Series. It supports ATRAC and MP3 playback from built-in flash storage shown on an OLED display and delivers up to 50 hours from a lithium-ion battery. Its perfume-bottle-inspired design introduced the stick form factor. This model helped establish the visual direction later carries into the flash A Series and later Walkman designs.
The 1GB flagship of the first Walkman Stick generation and the fullest expression of that redesign. What mattered was how complete the concept felt: compact, rechargeable, visually distinctive, and much more polished than the earlier flash Walkman families. Style was now part of the point. It was the top-end version of the generation where Sony's flash Walkman finally became a designed object in a much more deliberate way.
