NW-E083

The NW-E083 is a thirteenth-generation model in Sony's E Series of Network Walkman. It offers 4 GB storage supporting MP3, WMA, and AAC playback. A lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of use with Bluetooth and photo playback. The body shape matched the contemporary S780 series. It effectively closed the E Series before the shift to the later NW-S13 generation.

This model belonged to the phase where Sony's lower-end Walkman line had become so compact and stripped-back that it almost loops around into charm again. It is a very compact player, very much in the spirit of "load music, press play, move on," but by then that simplicity feels intentional instead of underdeveloped. Sony had finally learned how to let a simple player stay simple without making it feel disposable.
