The NW-A857 delivers the flagship 64 GB capacity in the sixth-generation A Series Network Walkman. It continued the design and accessory continuity from the A840 generation. Equipped with 64 GB storage supporting ATRAC, MP3, WMA, and AAC playback plus video and photo, it relied on a lithium-ion battery for 36 hours and incorporated Omakase Channel.

The A857 gives that same platform its fullest version before the line starts responding more directly to wireless and smartphone pressure. It carries the same refined A850 identity, but here the storage and overall package finally feel aligned without obvious limitation. What stands out is how little friction there is in the design. Nothing feels transitional or unfinished. The A857 is Sony had already reached the calm point earlier A models only hinted at.
