The MZ-R37 is a model that maintains the basic system while keeping the price down, positioning a recordable MiniDisc for the general public. Optical and analog recording share a single input, and it also supports voice recording via a dedicated microphone input. The recording uses the same basic encoding method as higher-end models and also supports recording control by digital level adjustment. During playback, stability for portable use is ensured by an anti-skip buffer. On the other hand, features such as microphone sensitivity adjustment, date and time recording, and a dedicated erase button are omitted, and the included remote control does not have a display function. Power is supplied by two AA batteries, and the configuration prioritizes ease of use.
