The MZ-M200, a model marketed under a different name in the US, is Sony's last flagship MiniDisc recorder. It not only features full Hi-MD functionality but also boasts a configuration that closely integrates the unit with PC-based operation. Hi-MD supports both compressed and uncompressed recording formats, including Linear PCM, and allows for high-speed bidirectional file transfer via USB. It includes all major recording paths, including microphone input, line input, and optical input. For power, it employs a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that easily provides sufficient capacity within its compact casing. It integrates all the functions of MiniDisc into a single unit, representing one of the ultimate achievements in the evolution of portable MiniDisc.
