WM-FX56

The WM-FX56 is another mid-tier radio Walkman built around the familiar analog tuner formula, combining FM/AM reception with auto-reverse playback, Dolby B noise reduction, Mega Bass, anti-rolling support, and Sony's auto volume limiting system. It stayed within the same broad design language as the FX45, using a compact plastic body and two-AA power system, but came across as slightly cleaner and more consolidated in its overall execution.

Sony was producing several models that were less about breakthrough differences and more about subtle reshuffling of the same mature feature set. The FX56 is a good example of that phase. It was the company fine-tuning an already stable radio Walkman formula than trying to reinvent it.
