WM-EX39R

WM-EX39R

The WM-EX39R is a pared-back EX-series cassette player that kept the same standing-body logic and anti-rolling transport as Sony's lower playback models while trimming away many of the extras found in the more feature-complete EX machines around it. It retained manual tape selection, automatic volume limiting, and straightforward mechanical operation in a compact two-AA body built for daily use instead of refinement. The overall machine was minimal and clearly price-sensitive.

There is not much spectacle here, and that is part of the value. The EX39R reads like one of those slightly obscure, regionally functional Walkman that helped keep the line broad and commercially alive even after the category had stopped being culturally new.
